What we need to quote accurately
City and postal/ZIP code for pickup and delivery. For cross-border shipments, we also need to know whether the US or international consignee has an importer account number (IRS EIN or CARM Business Number), as this affects how we file the import entry.
Commodity name — what the goods actually are, not just the packaging. Total weight, number of pieces, and dimensions per piece or per pallet. If the goods are dangerous, include the UN number and proper shipping name. If they're temperature-sensitive, note the required range.
Your preferred pickup date and any delivery deadline. If the deadline is hard (production line, ship departure, auction date), say so explicitly — it affects whether we quote standard transit or recommend our expedited service.
The commercial value of the shipment in CAD or USD. This determines customs valuation, duty calculation, and the appropriate level of cargo insurance. Undervaluing goods for customs purposes is a violation of the Customs Act and can result in significant penalties.
Quotes are valid for 5 business days from issue date. Rates are subject to change based on fuel surcharge adjustments, which are published weekly. We will notify you of any adjustment before confirming a booking.
General freight, LTL, FTL, and standard customs clearance requests are quoted within 1 business day. We may contact you to clarify cargo details before issuing the quotation.
Dangerous goods, oversized loads, temperature-controlled freight, and international forwarding requests are quoted within 2 business days. Some routes or commodity types require carrier and port agent confirmation before a rate can be confirmed.
